There is a need for a satellite phone among people today. This is particularly true for those who often find themselves in areas that are a bit remote. This also helps a lot of people during times of emergency when all the communication lines are down. Satellite phone systems are not affected by any force of nature since they are not like the cellular phones wherein the transmission is based on cellular networks while sat phones transmit signal through the use of satellites that are close to the earth.
The best satellite phone service is one that has a lot of satellites since this means that it has a wide coverage and there are no delays in transmission. Satellite phones are known to have superior quality sound too. One of the leading sat phone service providers is Iridium which has a network of about 66 countries. The satellites that Iridium has are LEO or low earth orbiting which make transmission clearer and devoid of delays. The company offers different plans and packages for their satellite phone service. This is to cater to the different needs and affordability of people.
This is one way of making the service more consumer-centric instead of simply just commercial. That is why there are a lot of private individuals who are now using the satellite phone system unlike before when only the government and a few huge companies can make use of it.
Lately some sat phone service providers make use of the time division multiple access scheme since this allows for more calls to be attended to in the system. This was done since the usual complaint in the use of sat phones is that when there are too many calls made simultaneously the system tends to bog down. Today, that has been resolved and that’s why a number of people have switched to the use of satellite phones.

Satellite phones have a great advantage than other phones; they can be used in remote areas that normally have no other means of communication. They used to be utilized by the government and for very huge corporations and organizations that do business in some remote areas around the globe. It’s a good thing that things have changed and there is now a popular satellite phone service provided by Iridium. This started way back 2001 when the Iridium World Data Services when this type of communication system became consumer-centric. Its most recent addition to its packages is the prepaid phone service that costs $1.09 per 30 seconds regularly. This used to be only for the government to use but today this is available for all private individuals who like to take advantage of this very efficient phone service. There is nothing else that can compare to the kind of data and voice transfer that any satellite phone service can provide. That is why there has been a decrease in the amount of rental services as more people have been made aware of the advantages in using the satellite phone service and with the decreasing rates a lot more are buying instead of mere renting them.
Satellite phones are also a lot helpful during emergencies. Thus type of phone service is not vulnerable to any natural disaster and is therefore very helpful during emergencies when all lines are cut off. Satellite phones now also have SIM cards in them and many of these cater to about 99 countries around the world.
